5. General Insurance Information — Cascade Insurance Agencies
If you ask for help with general insurance (auto, home, condo, tenant, landlord, farm, commercial or commercial fleet), the information reasonably needed to respond may be collected, used or disclosed by:
-
Anshul Ghai, Himanshu Puri and Cascade Insurance Agencies
and, where reasonably needed for the service you’ve asked for, by the insurance companies, underwriters, authorized insurance representatives and service providers involved in the transaction.
General insurance information is used for general insurance purposes and for other purposes permitted by law or authorized by you. Asking for general insurance help does not by itself authorize us to share your information with Punjab Insurance Agency Inc. for life or accident & sickness insurance purposes.
6. Life, Accident & Sickness, Travel and Super Visa Information — Punjab Insurance Agency Inc.
If you ask for help with life, critical illness, disability, travel, super visa, health and dental, segregated funds or annuities, the information reasonably needed to respond may be collected, used or disclosed by:
-
Anshul Ghai and Punjab Insurance Agency Inc.
and, where reasonably needed for the service you’ve asked for, by life insurance companies, underwriters, authorized insurance representatives, supervisors where applicable, and service providers involved in the transaction.
During an actual application or underwriting, this may include more sensitive information. We collect sensitive medical, financial or underwriting information only when reasonably needed and through an appropriate approved process.
Asking for life or health insurance help does not by itself authorize us to share your information with Cascade Insurance Agencies for general insurance purposes.
7. If You Ask About Both General and Life Insurance
If you ask for both, we may keep separate inquiry records under the same client profile. Your information is routed according to the services you selected, the purposes explained to you, the consent you gave, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Where separate consent is appropriate, we will ask for separate general insurance and life & health insurance consent.
8. Consent
We ask for consent that fits the nature and sensitivity of the information and the purpose we’re collecting it for. When you send an insurance inquiry, we ask you to consent specifically to the agency that will handle it.
Consent to respond to an insurance inquiry is separate from optional consent to receive promotional messages.
You may withdraw consent by contacting the Privacy Officer, subject to legal, regulatory, contractual and insurance record-keeping requirements. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide some insurance services, and we will explain the likely consequences.
9. Marketing Communications
Consent to receive marketing or promotional messages is optional and separate from the consent needed to respond to your inquiry.
If you opt in, Anshul Ghai may send you insurance information, educational content, renewal-related marketing, website or service updates and other promotional messages by email or text. Every promotional message identifies Anshul Ghai as the sender, includes his contact information, and offers a way to unsubscribe.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link or “STOP” reply in any message, or by contacting the Privacy Officer. We act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop messages reasonably needed for an active inquiry, application, appointment, policy-related request or other service you’ve asked for.
10. Renewal Reminders
If you give us a renewal date or approximate renewal period, we may use it to organize your insurance profile, prioritize your inquiry, remind you that a renewal is coming up, and contact you about a review you’ve asked for.
Renewal reminders are a convenience only. They do not mean a policy has been renewed or that coverage remains in force.
11. Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose personal information where reasonably needed to provide the service you asked for, obtain quotes or underwriting decisions, process an application or transaction, work with the applicable agency or insurer, use technology and operational service providers, protect against fraud or security incidents, comply with legal or regulatory requirements, respond to lawful orders or regulatory requests, or protect legal rights where the law permits.
We do not sell client personal information. We will not give your information to another organization for an unrelated insurance or marketing purpose just because that organization is connected to this website.
12. Service Providers
We may use third-party providers to run the website, client portal and client-service systems, such as website hosting, cloud infrastructure, databases, secure file storage, authentication, email delivery, text messaging, appointment scheduling, security monitoring, backups, analytics and technical support. Service providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their service and are expected to protect it appropriately.
13. Storage and Processing Outside British Columbia or Canada
Personal information may be stored or processed by technology providers in Canada or, depending on the service, in another country. Information processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement or government authorities under those laws. We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the nature of the provider. To ask where your information is stored, contact the Privacy Officer.
14. Security Safeguards
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or destruction, and against loss, theft and misuse. Depending on the system, these may include HTTPS encryption, encryption of stored information, multi-factor authentication, role-based access, password protection, access and audit logging, restricted administrative access, secure backups, malware protection, security updates, secure document storage and confidentiality agreements.
No electronic system can guarantee absolute security, but we maintain safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the information.
15. Collecting Only What’s Needed
The website and the first inquiry form are designed to collect only what’s reasonably needed. Unless we ask for it through an approved process, please don’t send Social Insurance Numbers, banking passwords or credentials, credit card information, medical documents, identity documents or passwords for insurer accounts.
16. Accuracy of Information
We may rely on the information you give us when responding to an inquiry or arranging a transaction. Please keep your information accurate and tell us when it changes. We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and complete where it may be used to make a decision about you or disclosed for insurance purposes.
17. Retention of Personal Information
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed to fulfil the purposes it was collected for, maintain insurance and professional records, meet agency or insurer requirements, meet legal, regulatory, contractual, tax, errors-and-omissions or audit requirements, and resolve disputes or complaints.
Where personal information has been used to make a decision that directly affects you, we keep it for at least one year after that decision, as PIPA requires, so you can ask for access to it. When information is no longer needed, we securely destroy, delete or de-identify it. Closing a client portal account does not necessarily mean deleting insurance records that must lawfully be kept.
18. Access to Your Personal Information
Subject to legal exceptions, you may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and for information about how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed. Send your request in writing to:
-
Privacy Officer: Anshul Ghai
-
Email: [email protected] · [email protected]
-
Phone: 778-793-3322
-
Mail: 102-7577 King George Blvd, Surrey, BC V3W 5A8
We will respond within 30 business days of receiving your written request, unless PIPA allows an extension, in which case we will tell you why and for how long. We may need to verify your identity first. We will not give you another person’s information just because it appears in the same insurance record.
19. Correction of Personal Information
You may ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete. Where appropriate, we will correct it or note the requested correction, and send the corrected information to organizations we disclosed it to in the previous year where needed.
20. Withdrawal of Consent
Subject to legal and regulatory requirements, you may withdraw consent to some collection, use or disclosure of your personal information by contacting the Privacy Officer. We will explain the likely consequences. For example, withdrawing consent needed to process an inquiry may mean we can’t continue that service.
21. Cookies and Website Analytics
The website and portal may use cookies or similar technologies to keep you logged in, for security, to remember preferences, to understand website use, to improve performance and to prevent fraud or automated abuse. Where non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking technologies are used, we will provide notice and controls as required. The specific technologies may change as the website is updated.
22. Social Media and External Websites
Anshul Ghai maintains profiles on social media, including @insurewithanshul on Instagram and TikTok, and this website links to external sites. Information you submit directly to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google, WhatsApp or other platforms is also subject to that platform’s privacy practices. Please don’t send sensitive insurance, medical, financial or identity information in public comments or unsecured direct messages.
23. Information About Other People
You may sometimes need to give us information about someone else, such as a spouse, family member, driver, employee, business partner, beneficiary or insured person. Only provide another person’s information where you have their authority or are otherwise legally permitted to. Additional consent may be needed before it can be used for an application or transaction.
24. Privacy Incidents
If we suspect a loss of, or unauthorized access to or disclosure of, personal information, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, contain the risk, protect the affected information, preserve relevant records, notify the applicable agencies, service providers, regulators or affected individuals where appropriate or required, and reduce the risk of it happening again.
25. Privacy Complaints
If you have a privacy question or concern, please contact the Privacy Officer first so we can review it:
-
Privacy Officer: Anshul Ghai
-
Email: [email protected] · [email protected]
-
Phone: 778-793-3322
We will make reasonable efforts to investigate and respond. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca).
26. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in website features, insurance services, technology providers, data-handling practices, legal or regulatory requirements, or security practices. The current version and its date will be posted on this page. Where a material change requires new or additional consent, we will ask for it.
